Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Music Teacher to inspire and guide students in exploring the world of music. This position involves helping to create a new program and teaching music across K-8 grade levels. The right candidate will also cultivate an appreciation for music, and foster individual and group performance skills in partnership with the Performing Arts program. Candidates with experience in the Orff Method will be considered more favorably.
Responsibilities
• Develop and deliver engaging, age-appropriate music lessons that integrate Orff Schulwerk principles and instrumental music education for students in grades K-8.
• Teach fundamental musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, and music theory, in age-appropriate ways.
• Introduce students to diverse musical genres, cultures, and instruments.
• Lead and support school musical performances, concerts, and events.
• Foster a love of music and encourage creative expression through singing, playing instruments, and other activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into broader interdisciplinary projects.
• Create an inclusive classroom environment where all students feel welcome and supported in their musical exploration.
Schedule and Compensation
This is a full-time salary position starting on August 13, 2025. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience in the $55k-$70k/yr range depending on experience.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field (required); Teaching Credential and Master’s Degree is preferred.
• Experience crafting music curriculum and teaching instruments to children, ideally in a kindergarten through eighth-grade setting and preferably in the Orff Method.
• Proficiency in one or more instruments including drumming, guitar, piano, xylophone, recorder, etc; ability to lead vocal and instrumental instruction. (Ability to accompany on keyboard and/or guitar is preferred).
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
• Enthusiasm for working in a small school environment and contributing to the broader school community.
Preferred Qualifications
• Orff philosophy training or certification.
• Experience directing school performances, such as musicals or concerts.
• Familiarity with integrating technology into music education.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
