Colorado Rocky Mountain School: Upper School History Position
Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking an experienced Upper School History Teacher to join our team of dedicated faculty members starting in the fall of 2025. This teacher will implement a global history curriculum. History teachers at CRMS value a progressive, interdisciplinary pedagogy designed to meet individual student’s needs and help them attain an academically vibrant and skilled level of scholarship. Faculty also participate in our active program and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
Teach three to four academic courses
Collaborate with English and other relevant academic disciplines
Support boarding students as a dorm parent in the evening and weekend residential program
Mentor a group of students as an advisor
Instruct active program curriculum (including mountain sports, theater arts, outdoor trips, or service work)
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
Take on other duties as needed
Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree and/or teaching credential preferred
Humanities teaching experience (1-year minimum)
World history and global studies experience preferred
Experience teaching fundamental skill sets, such as reading comprehension and re-call, writing strategies and techniques, and organization skills
Demonstrated experience in the use of technology, and in integrating technological applications in the classroom
Organization/time-management skills
Cultural competencies required to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging within a diverse cultural and social framework
Ability to effectively engage with students as a dorm parent and advisor

The Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is a college-preparatory independent high school located thirty miles northwest of Aspen in the mountains of western Colorado. CRMS’s average enrollment is 175 students in grades 9-12 from various countries. Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
