Benefits Offered: 1) a tremendous amount of podium time and conducting experience 2) Master of Music Degree, Artist Diploma, or Certificate in Conducting 3) The university will make every attempt to have all of your tuition costs covered. Additionally, MM candidates who receive a GTA position will be provided with an extra stipend to help cover their living expenses. 4) The winning candidate will also be eligible for the paid positions of Associate or Assistant Conductor with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, of which Maestro Golan is the Music Director Laureate.

Description: Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will pursue either a Master of Music Degree, an Artist Diploma, or a Certificate in Conducting at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, studying with Professor Lawrence Golan and serving as the Assistant Conductor of the Lamont Symphony Orchestra & Opera Theatre. The student will conduct in a variety of settings including concert performances with the Lamont Symphony Orchestra (LSO), full orchestra rehearsals with the LSO, sectional rehearsals with the LSO, and rehearsals with the Lamont Opera Theatre. The student will also gain valuable hands-on, actual experience with many of the extra-musical activities with which conductors and music directors are faced. These experiences will include managing orchestra personnel, librarian activities, running auditions, recruiting, and teaching Basic Conducting classes.

The Lamont Symphony Orchestra and conductor Lawrence Golan have won two Global Music Awards for their recording of Beethoven Symphony No. 7 and “Beethoven 7.1” on Albany Records, three Downbeat Magazine Awards for "Best College Symphony Orchestra", and eight ASCAP Awards for “Innovative Programming of Contemporary Music”. The orchestra performs five symphonic concerts and one fully-staged opera each year.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
