The Robert and Judi Newman Center for the Performing Arts is a world-class, multi-venue performing arts center on the campus of the University of Denver. Home to the Lamont School of Music, The Newman Center hosts nearly 500 events annually. In addition to performances by Lamont students and faculty, the Newman Center is an in-demand performance venue for numerous rental clients including the Denver Post Pen and Podium Series, Friends of Chamber Music, Denver Brass, The CELL and many others. The Newman Center also presents nationally touring performing arts groups through its acclaimed series, Newman Center Presents. In addition, the Newman Center engages students, teachers and the community through its learning and community engagement programming.
Position Summary
Reporting to the executive director, the artistic operations manager will provide support for all aspects of the Newman Center Presents (NCP) performance series and related engagements. Essential duties include contract administration for guest artists, artist payments/reimbursements, travel logistics including hotel arrangements, local ground transportation, dressing room hospitality, and other similar needs. In addition, the artistic operations manager will provide booking support for the NCP series by preparing artist offers and negotiating contract deal terms. The artistic operations manager will work collaboratively with the associate director of educational initiatives to coordinate educational engagements. This position will regularly work evenings and weekends.
Essential Functions
Serves as the contract administrator for NCP artists: issues contracts; reviews and edits contracts received by external constituents; maintains electronic filing of contracts; manages contract status and archives
Works with the executive director to identify and negotiate the terms for co-presentations and residencies with local and regional arts groups
Manages settlement process for all guest artist payment
Provides support to the executive director with the booking of the NCP season: reviews calendar options for artist bookings; assists with artist research; maintains status document on artist offers/deal memos, etc.; prepares artist offers and negotiates contract deal terms
Manages all aspects of artist logistics including hotel arrangements, local ground transportation, dressing room hospitality, artist merchandise logistics and similar duties as assigned.
Work collaboratively with the education and engagement manager in arranging artist participation in educational and community engagement activities such as master classes, pre- or post-performance discussions, and similar activities.
Serves as primary artist contact on day-of-show (nights and weekends) for artist logistics: personally greet all arriving guest artists, attend all rehearsals and concerts where guest artists are present and other services as needed, be “on call” for any guest artist needs
Coordinate visa applications for all non-U.S. citizen performers
Coordinate complimentary tickets for guest performers with Box Office
Gather and maintain support information for guest artists, such as local medical resources and hotel/travel accommodations; compile database of background information for all guest artists.
Attend conferences and performances as designated by the Executive Director to aid in booking Newman Center Presents series
Independently pursue professional development opportunities to bolster knowledge base and keep up with trends in respective field
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
Knowledge of various performing arts genres and familiarity with nationally touring artists in the performing arts industry
Highly organized, with the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced office environment
Strong attention to detail but with the ability to process multiple requests and tasks in a timely manner
Excellent written communication
Advanced experience working in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook); ability to quickly learn new administrative software platforms
Ability to work well with a team as well as work independently
Ability to manage sensitive confidential material in a professional manner
Preferred:
Professional experience working for a performing arts organization.

Graduation from a four-year university or college with a degree in a performing arts discipline, arts administration, or music business OR equivalent work experience
3-5 years of experience supporting cultural events or programs with a minimum of one year in a programming role
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in business, arts administration/management or music business
Previous experience working in a programming/education/engagement department for a performing arts organization; previous experience in community engagement
Working Environment

Physical Activities

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on non-event weeks. Some evenings and weekends required based on event schedule.
In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs. Due to the nature of the position and event schedule, frequent on-campus presence is required.

Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $58,656 - $65,000.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
