Job Summary Full-time tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, conducting the Wind Symphony and teaching a variety of courses in the Department of Music & Performing Arts Responsibilities
Conduct the Bethel University Wind Symphony, an ensemble that includes music majors and non-majors from across the university
Serve as the department's Director of Instrumental Activities
Teach a variety of courses depending on the candidate's expertise and department needs, which may include Music Theory, Introduction to Creative Arts,
Instrumentation, Conducting, Music History, methods courses, and/or a January musical or opera
Participate in departmental activities, including planning for the Festival of Christmas and various concerts in the fall and spring
Recruit students to the Wind Symphony regardless of major
Recruit instrumental majors to the department
Travel with the ensemble on annual tours
Evaluate applicants for music scholarships
Actively support the University's commitment to its Christian values and liberal arts education
Contribute to an academic environment that seeks to advance inclusive excellence in the department and the discipline
Skills
Strong knowledge of wind, brass, and percussion methods
Ability to teach history, theory, or other auxiliary courses
Exceptional conducting and concert programming skills
Ability to assist in hiring and management of adjunct instrumental music lessons faculty
Experience
Experience as primary conductor of a concert wind or similar ensemble required
Experience teaching or serving as a teaching assistant of a history, theory, music appreciation, or other academic music class required
Education
Masters Degree in Instrumental Conducting, Music Education, or a related field is required; Doctorate in Instrumental Conducting, Music Education, or a related field is preferred.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
