Greenwich Country Day School is an independent, co-educational day school with a current enrollment of over 1400 students in grades N-12, and a faculty and staff of over 350. The original Old Church Road campus is home to grades N-8. The new High School, established in 2019, is located less than two miles away on Stanwich Road. Required Qualifications:

• Experience teaching students from 6-18 yrs. old
• Professional pianist
• Bachelor’s degree in music performance or music education preferred

Essential Functions:

• Teaching piano to students age 6-18.
• Ability to work as a member of the arts team, as well as with other GCDS professionals
• Personality traits appropriate for nurturing the growth of children/young adults- must be energetic, flexible, patient, and creative.

Responsibilities Include:

• Teach piano weekly in accordance with the school calendar and student schedule.
• Ensure students are returned to their classes in a timely manner.
• Support students in preparation and execution of a year-end recital.
• Effectively communicate with parents.
• Other duties as assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• Teaching Instruction- Imparting knowledge or skills to others through effective methods and procedures tailored to various situations.
• Communication- Conveying oral and written information clearly and giving full attention to what others are saying.
• Reasoning- Ability to apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
• Adaptability: Willingness to take on diverse roles within the school, demonstrating flexibility and patience.
• Safety and Security- Must have knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies for the protection of people, data, property, and school.
• Physical Requirements- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time and walk frequently across campuses

Classification:

• Regular, part-time position (10 months, 29 hrs or less/wk)
• Exempt-Salaried
