Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology

The University of Iowa School of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Ethnomusicology to join our internationally recognized faculty, beginning in the fall of 2025. The responsibilities of the successful candidate will include pursuing a research program in ethnomusicology; teaching general education courses, core courses for undergraduate music majors, and graduate music seminars; supervising teaching assistants; advising graduate theses and dissertations; and engaging in departmental, university, and professional service.

The School of Music offers graduate and/or undergraduate degrees in composition, conducting, jazz studies, music education, music theory, music therapy, musicology, and performance. The School enrolls approximately 450 majors and has more than 50 full-time faculty members. It is situated in the Voxman Music Building, a state-of-the-art facility in downtown Iowa City.
