The University of Georgia (UGA) announces an opening for a tenure track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Complex Carbohydrate Research Center (CCRC; https://ccrc.uga.edu) in the areas of plant and/or microbial glycoscience. We seek outstanding, innovative scientists who are addressing fundamental biological problems and whose research complements or expands existing strengths of the Center. Among these strengths, the CCRC is home to internationally-renowned, federally-funded centers and resources, including the DOE Center for Plant and Microbial Complex Carbohydrates, an NSF-funded Materials Innovation Platform (GlycoMIP), the NSF-funded BioFoundry: Glycoscience Resources, Education, and Training (BioF:GREAT), and the NIH-funded R24 National Glycoscience Resource and T32 Training Grant in Glycoscience. The CCRC is also a major hub for the NSF-funded Network for Advanced NMR (NAN) and the DOE Center for Bioenergy Innovation (CBI).
Applications will be considered from investigators who currently maintain or exhibit potential to develop vigorous research programs. Applicants at Associate and/or Full rank should have a robust record of high productivity and extramural funding. Applicants at all ranks must have a Ph.D. degree with training in biological, chemical, plant, microbial, or other biochemical disciplines that intersect with these areas. Applicants at all ranks should also possess an outstanding publication record and present a well-developed research plan. Successful candidates will be expected to build or maintain a vibrant, extramurally funded research program that integrates with and leverages the highly collaborative research environment at the CCRC and UGA and its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure for analytic biochemistry (including NMR and mass spectrometry), as well as computational, structural, and functional biology.
Successful candidates will have access to a robust graduate student training program (partially supported by an NIH training grant), highly motivated undergraduate trainees, and the opportunity to participate in education at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. An attractive start-up package with highly competitive employment conditions will be offered.
