The incumbent provides technical expertise in the planning and producing of processes and events within all CPEO venues and programs. Responsible for overseeing sound, lighting, and video services to support the programs of CPEO.
This position will serve as the primary production point of contact for all CPEO venues and programs, managing operational facets of the facility, including audio visual system maintenance, repair, inventory, and the training of career and student staff. This role ensures day-to-day operational activities run smoothly. This position will apply industry best practices to coordinate and operate the technical support of a range of events including, but not limited to: performance art, dance productions, festivals, and full-scale music and theater performances. Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced professional, to provide comprehensive coordination and management oversight of events.
Incumbent will be responsible for supervising a team of technical and operational staff in CPEO to support CPEO operations including responsible for leading the maintenance of venues, shops, and storage, including facilities and stage equipment, tools and materials, and leading the implementation of operational procedures for all users within the facilities. Work with the Executive Director of the Campus Performances and Events Office to develop and realize a long-term vision to support the theatrical capabilities of the CPEO managed venues. Manages an annual operating budget for all production and technical aspects of CPEO along with the Associate Directors. Assist with managing and monitoring the Department's event calendar for the technical production of meetings, events, and performing arts productions annually that occur within various facilities of the CPEO.
This role is responsible for the supervision and training of a student technical team and providing work direction for other career production professionals. The incumbent will effectively hire and train student technicians in the safe use, operations, and maintenance of audio, visual, and lighting equipment.
This role will also be supporting other areas of the Campus Performance and Events Office, including events and traditions across campus. This position may serve in a variety of production capacities given the needs of the production season.
Responsible for all aspects of leading staff, contracted crew members, and student technicians in support of the execution of events and performances. This role guides workload and schedules proper staffing for event at CPEO managed venues. Responsible for the implementation and operation of safety protocols.
Responsible for all activities associated with multiple / comprehensive technical aspects of theater productions, including procedures, personnel administration, and administering / monitoring budgetary expenditures consistent with budgetary allocations, and training of staff / students. May be responsible for maintenance of theater venues, shops, and storage, including facilities and stage equipment, tools and materials, and establishing and ensuring implementation of operational procedures for all users within the facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Mastery level knowledge in multiple technical theater production areas such as lighting, sound, video, costumes, hair / make-up, properties, scenery, scenic treatment, etc. A high level of understanding and skill to operate lighting, video, and audio systems to produce theatrical performances.
Strong working knowledge of University and collective bargaining policies, practices, rules, regulations, etc., including safety rules and regulations.
Strong knowledge / skills in all aspects of financial and personnel administration.
Supervisory skills-ability to train and supervise variety of technicians at both staff and student crew levels
Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills to communicate complex instructions and information to disparate constituencies. **Skilled in the ability to understand and translate technical documents for other nontechnical staff. Ability to give clear directives and use independent, rational judgment to make optimal decisions.
Strong skill and experience in planning, tracking, and managing technical production budgets. Ability to project production needs for simultaneous and overlapping productions.
Experience developing budgets, operating spreadsheet software (Excel), and producing timely reports. Well versed in developing staffing schedules and performance management.
Must be able to analyze and resolve problems, interpret policies (e.g., fiscal management, HR, contracts and grants, resource management in defined areas) and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge in Technical design.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
