Fine Arts Department Statement
We're looking for an energetic, experienced theatre teacher to join our Fine Arts Department. The ideal candidate will:
Have extensive experience in theatrical production, technical theatre, and directing.

Desired Skills & Qualifications The department is looking for someone who is active, dynamic, a recruiter of students, a promoter of student leadership, engaging, an innovator, a team player, outgoing, a self-starter, a good communicator, organized, connected, a logistical thinker, able to inspire students and establish relationships, and has experience in theatrical production.
Theatre teacher duties and responsibilities include:
Prepare and implement daily lessons and timely evaluation of student work and progress.
Teach Middle School introductory theatre courses and Upper School courses in acting, stagecraft, play production, and other elements of theatre.
Design and implement appropriate assessments that support individual student learning styles.
Produce annual mainstage productions, which include a musical, play, in-class productions, collaborative Middle School productions, and Rally for the Arts (BT’s student talent showcase).
Support Lower School enrichment productions.
Maintain auditorium space and theatrical equipment, including audio, lighting, painting, and construction equipment, as well as costume, prop, and makeup storage.
Support other events in the auditorium and provide technical support for major campus events.
Maintain the Swanson Auditorium calendar, coordinating all events in the space.
Foster and develop relationships with community arts organizations such as the Rose Theater and Resonance vocal ensemble.
Sponsor the school’s thespian troupes.
Coordinate purchasing with the Business Office and Activities Director for all productions.
Collaborate with communications and events personnel to ensure successful performances.
Organize and manage ticket sales.
Ensure the safety of students by following theatre safety guidelines and training students.
Serve as an advisor or class sponsor.
Collaborate with members of the faculty, administration, and staff on experiential, interdisciplinary, and community-based opportunities that add to the school community.
Actively participate in all faculty and staff meetings.
Communicate proactively, effectively, and in a timely manner with varied school constituencies in person, through email, and through voicemail.
Support divisional and school-wide initiatives through committee work, where appropriate.
Supervise and/or participate in occasional non-academic activities, including lunch, study hall, and carpool arrival and dismissal.

The successful candidate must have a bachelor’s degree and must possess or acquire and maintain a Nebraska teaching certificate in drama/theatre for grades 7-12. A minimum of five years of teaching experience at the high school level is preferred. The successful candidate will also possess a positive attitude, excellent written and verbal skills, strong organizational skills, and proven success within a work setting that requires collaboration, cooperation, and collegiality.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
