About the Department The Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA) integrates curricular and co-curricular components to improve the academic performance of our students and the quality of academic and non-academic experiences at NC State University. Arts NC State serves as the hub for performing and visual arts programs at NC State University that fosters collaboration, coordination, shared resources, cross-promotion, and mutual support among programs. The programs of Arts NC State are the Crafts Center, the Gregg Museum of Art & Design, NC State LIVE, and University Theatre. They work in close partnership with the Department of Performing Arts and Technology and the Arts Village. Essential Job Duties The Executive Director of Arts NC State serves as an innovative, visionary thought leader who will guide the transformation of Arts NC State by creating opportunities for students, faculty, staff, artists, community members, and community organizations to come together united in a common belief that the arts have the power to transform lives. The Arts NC State visual and performing arts programs and support units include: The Crafts Center, Gregg Museum of Art & Design, University Theatre, NC State LIVE, Arts Marketing, Arts Outreach & Engagement and Ticket Central. These programs and units serve as the vehicles through which Arts NC State convenes the broad stakeholder groups to facilitate programming that advances the units toward a common mission and vision. As the Associate Dean for University College, the incumbent serves as a member of the leadership team for University College ensuring that the opportunities offered through Arts NC State are connected to the other efforts of the University College and to Academic Programs across the institution.
The Associate Dean and Executive Director is charged with: • Providing visionary leadership for the arts at NC State to ensure that the programmatic efforts leverage capacity with Arts NC State, across the institution, and within the community to maximize impact. • Creating authentic collaboration with campus arts partners to drive a collective vision for the arts at NC State. • In collaboration with DASA Development, developing and executing a strategic fundraising plan to support new innovations and create sustainability. • Leading efforts to convene faculty and staff to pursue extramural funding opportunities to support the work of Arts NC State and maximize stakeholder impact. • Developing and managing an overall financial strategy for Arts NC State that appropriately balances extramural funding, private philanthropy, receipt generation, student fee support, and general institutional support. • Serving as the chief spokesperson for Arts NC State and as a member of the leadership team for University College; enhancing the reputation of Arts NC State, University College, DASA, and NC State University in all communications, marketing, and programmatic efforts. • Fostering engagement which is collectively viewed as an essential element for Arts NC State success; understanding student, faculty, staff, and community capacity and needs in order to identify opportunities for collaboration and interdisciplinary programming, teaching and learning. • Serving as the chief facilities advocate for space stewarded by Arts NC State; ensuring that the needs of the Arts are represented in college, division, and university conversations regarding physical resources; ensuring that all physical resources are well maintained and invite stakeholders into the arts. • Providing leadership for marketing and communications efforts related to the arts at NC State; collaborating with DASA Marketing and Communications to create effective strategies to support progress toward the mission of Arts NC State. • Providing leadership for operations across Arts NC State units that ensures compliance with University policies, rules, regulations, and standards; ensuring that the necessary and sufficient internal controls exist across the operation to mitigate risks. • Leading the evolution and strategy for the arts board. • Other Responsibilities • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience Doctoral (terminal) degree in an appropriate discipline with a history of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with a faculty appointment (tenured or professional track) at the rank of Associate or Full Professor within a department at NC State with a minimum of five (5) years of related professional, management experience.
Other Required Qualifications: • Demonstrated success in fundraising, obtaining extramural funding, and revenue generation; organizational growth and development. • Demonstrated experience managing resources across a complex budget with multiple funding sources. • Demonstrated success as a creative problem-solver. • Demonstrated success in leading teams to develop and implement a common agenda for success. • Experience providing leadership for personnel, facilities, and/or programming. • Demonstrated experience in visual, creative, and/or performing arts. • Demonstrated success in building mutually beneficial community partnerships. • Demonstrated experience in convening faculty to work towards a common goal. •Experience providing strategic vision and leadership for organizational identity and branding.
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience leading an arts organization inclusive of the visual, creative, and performing arts. • Experience leading change and initiatives through a collective impact model.

Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
