Supervises recreation program personnel, and oversees the management of facilities that provide social services and recreational programs to children and adults. Develops, implements, and evaluates recreation and therapeutic programs, activities and special events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
Position Specific Summary
The Therapeutic, Adaptive, and Inclusion Supervisor position in the City of Tucson’s Parks and Recreation department is responsible for planning, scheduling, organizing, and evaluating recreational and leisure programs for people with disabilities. This position will manage and ensure the department’s equitable and inclusive practices in the delivery of services where feasible.
Work is performed under the supervision of a Recreation Superintendent. This position exercises supervision over division personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities
Directs, instructs, and supervises subordinates on work standards, schedules, and procedures, while ensuring compliance with City and department regulations. Trains department staff about inclusion and develops training materials and programs. Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates section staff and volunteers, providing them with recognition.
Ensures programs are fully inclusive and follow proper structure, guidelines, and policies. Oversees the creation of schedules and coordinates activities for people with disabilities, including: Camps, Clinics, Sporting activities, Special Olympics, Dances and parties, and Other recreational and social events.
Maintains quality and quantity standards for service delivery, allowing for measurable assessment and reporting. Drafts, trains, and implements guidelines and manuals for employees and participants related to therapeutic, adaptive, or inclusion programs. Keeps records of certifications for section staff and ensures they are current, compliant and department requirements.
Responds to inquiries from the public, program participants, including parents and guardians. Manages information distribution of print and digital communications and promotional materials, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Prepares, administers, monitors, and prepares documentation or reports for the program budget. Manages grant paperwork and reimbursement packages, if applicable. Manages fund allocations, fee collection, check requests, and service payments. Approves purchases of supplies and equipment.?Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver equitable programs for diverse citywide audiences, including individuals with disabilities. Receives and assists in navigating Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) complaints submitted by the public and provides recommendations for appropriate resolutions.
Perform other duties as assigned to meet operational needs.

Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field., Experience supervising the delivery of therapeutic and adaptive programs to individuals with a disability. Experience supervising a full-time staffing team of three (3) or more and multiple non-perm employees.

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
