Capital City Symphony (CCS) is seeking a Music Librarian and Personnel Manager to join our team and help support the concert season. This position will work closely with the Artistic Director and Executive Director through the season, which spans from September to May, while also dedicating time during the summer months to prepare for the upcoming year.
Approximately 10-15 Hours a month.
Hybrid work with flexible hours. Some in-person hours will be required on evenings and weekends for events or rehearsals at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in Washington, DC. Must work from your own computer and internet connection.
Responsibilities:
Manage the orchestra's music library, including acquiring, preparing, and distributing music materials in a timely manner.
Manage and coordinate all aspects of orchestra personnel, including recruitment, hiring of subs and ringers, and creating rosters in consultation with the Artistic Director. Manage rosters for all concerts, and community events.
Work with the orchestra's musicians to ensure they have access to the correct music, performance materials, and rehearsal details.
Develop and maintain relationships with publishers, vendors, libraries, and other music resources to ensure the orchestra can access the most up-to-date music resources and materials.
Attend rehearsals as needed, especially the first rehearsal of each concert cycle and concert week rehearsals. Attend concerts.
Keep track of player attendance and availability.
Regular communication with production and operation teams throughout the season.
Coordinate and sit in auditions. Communicate results to auditionees.
Other duties as assigned.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience as an orchestral musician or orchestra personnel manager, or librarian
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Knowledge of classical music repertoire
Compensation
$25 per hour. Paid monthly as a 1099 contractor.

Based at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in the H Street Corridor in Washington, DC, Capital City Symphony (CCS) serves both audience members and orchestra members. By engaging with CCS, our audience members support our musicians, hear high-quality live music at a reasonable price, and enjoy our concerts in a fun, intimate environment. Our orchestra members volunteer with our orchestra to have the opportunity to engage with the joy of symphonic music-making. CCS draws over 80 orchestra members annually from Washington, D.C.’s unique pool of talented amateur musicians – many of whom have extensive training through the college or conservatory level - providing them with an opportunity to reconnect with their passion for music-making. Under the leadership of Artistic Director and Conductor Victoria Gau, the orchestra performs fun, challenging, and exciting repertoire from the 18th century to today!

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
