The Cliburn is hiring a Senior Booking and Artist Manager!
Widely considered "one of the most prestigious contests in classical music" (The New York Times, June 2022), the seventeenth edition of the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition is one year away, May 21 to June 7, 2025! As pianists around the world spend countless hours in the practice room preparing for their chance to compete, the Cliburn is carefully planning each detail to create the perfect environment for them. In addition to the competitions, the Cliburn produces programs locally and internationally. The Cliburn is a unique organization, come see why!
The senior booking and artist manager is responsible for leading the booking functions of the Cliburn for artists and other touring projects, and managing the careers of a portfolio of artists.
Booking. Develop, supervise, and implement comprehensive booking strategy for entire Cliburn artist roster and other touring projects. Lead season goals, develop sales and relationship strategy, negotiate bookings, and advise other team members.
Artist Management. Manage the careers of a portfolio of artists. Work closely with artists to develop long- and short-term objectives, projects and career goals. Oversee professional calendar, engagement and tour logistics. Seek and recommend new artist signings.
Operations and Administrative. Assist the Director of Artistic Planning in local programming, events, and other projects. Draft and proof written artistic content. Manage budgets.
The Cliburn advances classical piano music throughout the world. Its international competitions, education programs, and concert series embody an enduring commitment to artistic excellence and the discovery of new artists.
Over a four-year cycle, the Cliburn contributes to North Texas’ cultural landscape with over 170 classical music performances for 150,000 attendees through competitions, free community concerts, and its signature Cliburn Concerts series. It presents 1,000 Cliburn in the Classroom in-school, interactive music education programs for more than 200,000 area elementary students. During the same time period, it garners the world’s attention with more than 60 million views from 177 nations for competition webcasts; 300 concerts worldwide booked for competition winners; more than 10,000 news articles about the Cliburn and its winners; and regular national radio broadcasts to 245 public radio stations.
The senior booking and artist manager will work alongside all staff to achieve the Cliburn's mission.
Bachelor’s degree required
Knowledge of classical music and the performing arts industry required
Minimum 5 years of relevant management experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required
Ability to travel (20-25%) and attend concerts and events.
Strong work ethic; high level of personal and professional integrity; trustworthiness and ability to maintain confidentiality
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, patience, and empathy to work with multiple personalities in stressful situations
Ability to balance teamwork and independent work
Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize conflicting demands and multiple projects
Ability to make informed decisions, problem solve, and adapt to changes quickly and with grace

Recording of plenary sessions that is intended for broadcast or webcast requires prior arrangement and permission through APAP;
Advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours;
Advance scouting, without cameras, is required;
All camera crew personnel must wear press badges, and badges must be visible while on the exhibit floor;
All camera crews will be escorted by a representative of the Conference while on the exhibit floor;
A list of filming needs, indicating company name and booth number, must be approved by APAP in advance of any filming;
Permission must be granted by each exhibitor before any filming begins. Camera crews must provide release forms before filming;
If you ?need power, other than battery pack, advance arrangements are required and can be arranged by contacting Leah Frelinghuysen;
You will be responsible for any costs related to electrical needs;
Interviews for exhibitors in the EXPO Hall should be scheduled up to one week before the conference starts (January 10, 2020) and advance scheduling is required for all filming during exhibit hours
