Located in the rapidly developing region surrounding St. George, Utah, the Kayenta Arts Foundation (KAF) was formed in 2011 with the grassroots support of community members united by a belief that the arts are an integral component of a healthy, vibrant society. Our founders envisioned an inclusive, intimate, professional arts venue nestled in the majestic red rock mountains of the Kayenta community, and the Center for the Arts at Kayenta (CFAK) opened its doors in 2017. Today, the Center stands as a beacon of cultural diversity in the desert, producing and presenting over 50 events annually, with approximately 120 individual performances across the artistic disciplines of theater, music, dance, storytelling, and humanities-based lectures.
The surrounding region is renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and outdoor recreation, and the Center's programming prioritizes engagement with the complexities of environmental conservation and sustainability, onstage and off. Our work often celebrates the natural beauty of Southern Utah, and provides audiences with complimentary resources to educate them on how they can protect the surrounding habitat. The Center advocates for environmental responsibility, inspiring audiences to take care of the lands they are occupying or visiting.
