Sidwell Friends School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Music Lessons Teacher for our beginner flute/clarinet students in our after school program at the Bethesda, MD campus.
The ideal candidate will have a strong musical background, excellent communication skills, and a desire to inspire and educate beginners in the world of music. As the after school Music Lessons Teacher for the beginner student group, you will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students develop their musical skills.
Conduct afternoon music lessons for beginners in flute or clarinet.
Create and implement lesson plans tailored to the skill level and interests of each student.
Provide instruction on music theory, technique, and proper practice habits.
Assess and monitor the progress of each student, providing constructive feedback.
Organize and coordinate periodic recitals or performances for students to showcase their achievements.
Communicate effectively with students and their parents regarding progress, goals, and expectations.
Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to enhance the overall music education program.
Proven musical proficiency in flute/clarinet and/or other more instruments.
Previous experience teaching music lessons, especially to beginners.
Knowledge of music theory and pedagogy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Patience and the ability to motivate and inspire students.
Organizational skills to plan and execute effective lessons.
Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to individual student needs.
A Bachelor's degree in music education or a related field (preferred).
