The mission of the Department of Psychology, part of the College of Sciences and Mathematics, is to advance the discipline of Psychology as an area of scholarly, professional, and scientific endeavor in a diverse and inclusive environment. Focusing on providing high quality education, the students and faculty members exchange ideas stemming from a variety of viewpoints in an environment of mutual respect, collaboration, and equity. The department accomplishes its mission via effective recruitment and retention, training, ground-breaking clinical work, advancing research, community service, and innovative teaching, while demonstrating open and productive dialogue, advocacy, and support.
The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses that may be offered in-person, online, or hybrid in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department’s students. The incumbent will collaborate with other department faculty and staff to ensure student success.
This is a full-time 9-month appointment. There is potential for summer session instructional opportunities.
Teach undergraduate and/or graduate level courses to include one or more areas of the following areas: adult development, research methods, history and systems of psychology, social psychology, and group interventions/group processes. Additional courses within area of specialization may be assigned depending on department needs – such as distance education and/or writing intensive courses.
Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, publications, and grants.
Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees.
Develop and maintain a productive program of peer-reviewed research.
Other duties as assigned.
A doctorate in Psychology, Human Development, or Neuroscience. ABD may be considered - must be completed before August 2024.
Experience teaching courses in Psychology to include one or more of the following areas: adult development, research methods, history and systems of psychology, social psychology, group interventions/group processes.
Active program of research as evidenced by a track record of recent peer-reviewed empirical research. Area of research is open.
Review of applications will begin in November 2023 and continue until the position has been filled.
Finalists must successfully complete an interview, teaching demonstration, and research presentation.
