As a Music Teacher at Hillel Day School, you will have the exciting opportunity to nurture students' musical talents and instill a lifelong appreciation for music. The role primarily involves teaching music to 3rd and 4th-grade classes on a weekly basis and leading the 5th-grade band, which meets twice a week. Additionally, you will play a key role in overseeing the production of our annual school musical and directing our school choir.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement our engaging music curriculum for 3rd and 4th-grade students, focusing on vocal training, rhythmic reading skills, and basic instrument instruction.
Lead and inspire 5th-grade students in their musical journey, directing the school band and facilitating band rehearsals.
Plan and coordinate the school musical production, guiding students in acting, singing, and production aspects.
Additional Responsibilities:
Conduct choir rehearsals for students across various grade levels, culminating in performance at the end of the year.
Collaborate with colleagues to integrate music into cross-curricular activities and special events.
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore their musical talents and express themselves through music.
Assess and track student progress, providing feedback and support for individual growth.
Engage with parents and the school community to foster a love for music education.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in music education.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
State teaching certification in Music Education.
Previous teaching experience in an elementary school setting preferred.
Proficiency in multiple musical instruments and vocal training.
Strong classroom management skills and a passion for working with elementary-age students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.
