Overview
The Senior A/V Technology Specialist would serve as a member of the management team in the Avery Fisher center to ensure service standards across the gamut of library-patron interactions. They may serve as the AFC representative in various division-wide committees, manage and maintain the Avery Fisher Centerâ™s (AFC) audio and video equipment, systems, infrastructure, and facilities. With a high degree of independent expertise and responsibility, take a leading role for the AFC in the implementation of its audio and video engineering, content delivery, digital archiving, and digital preservation programs and activities. Provide a high level of customer service to novice and experienced users of the AFCâ™s collections, equipment, and facilities, including oversight of reference support, and technical assistance. Hire, train and manage a technical team of student and casual employees who will assist staff and patrons.*This position is fully onsite*
Responsibilities
Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education: Advanced coursework in audio and/or video technology or equivalent professional experience.
Required Experience: 3+ years 3+ years of experience in providing quality customer service and professional level work in audio/video engineering. Experience supervising staff.
Preferred Experience: Library experience
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Modern and historical equipment and recording formats for audio and video, including but not limited to downloadable and streaming files, CDs, DVDs, magnetic tapes, 33- and 78-rpm discs; computer hardware & software for production, reproduction, editing, and reformatting of audio & video. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to interact and work with all levels of staff (faculty, students, & professional).
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Library catalogs and related information management systems; Musical training and/or experience. Understanding of academic culture and the role of libraries within a university.
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $69,300.00 to USD $84,700.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
