Established in 1970, SVCC is one of the 23 colleges in the Virginia Community College System. There are cultural activities including various theaters and arts councils offering concerts, plays, and live entertainment, and there are many local festivals held throughout the year.We are seeking a full-time Executive Assistant for our President's Office.The Executive Assistant to the President manages all aspects of the Office of the President and performs administrative functions that require a thorough knowledge of College policies, procedures and operations as well as an understanding of the College's role within the community. The Executive Assistant has recurring contact with members of the Virginia Community College System, Local Board, senior and mid level administrators, public and private officials, students and parents. The Executive Assistant exercises initiative and independent judgment in managing the President's schedule and the Office's daily activities. The Executive Assistant uses discretion in the dissemination of information to faculty, staff, students and the various communities served by the College. This position coordinates activities with several major subordinate administrative units of the College.Teleworking one day per week is possible depending on Office demands.Some of the core responsibilities include but are not limited to:Administrative Duties (maintain highly confidential information, draft letters and prepare correspondence, schedule meetings and maintain the President's calendar and travel schedule, compile and maintain reports, receive visitors and screen all telephone calls to the office, act as liaison for the President to the public, consistently demonstrate courteous and helpful attitude to students, faculty, staff, board members of the College and to the public at large, maintain electronic and paper files, prepare mailings, maintain appropriate contact lists, order office supplies, etc.)Plan and Organize Special Activities and Events (Oversee Special projects as assigned, Local Board meetings, dinners, receptions, retreats, professional activities, and workshops)Plan and Organize Meetings (Board Meetings, President's Council Meetings, Administrative Council Meetings - schedule meetings, prepare agendas and document minutes)Other Responsibilities (manage budget for the President's office, coordinate with the Virginia Community College System including Chancellor's office, coordinate with the Governor's office, serves as a member of the President's Council, etc.)
