General Requirements:
Essential to this position is the ability to work collaboratively as a team member in production, contribute to new curricula in design technologies. Service is an integral aspect of the position, including mentoring student costume designers, academic advising of majors, active recruitment, participation in departmental meetings and activities, and service on committees at the departmental, college, and university levels.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
The Department of Theatre and Musical Theatre seeks a tenure-track assistant professor specializing in costume design and technology. Teaching assignments include costume design and costume construction/technology courses, stage makeup, and costume history. Based on departmental needs, teaching assignments may also include play analysis and theatre appreciation. Additionally, this hire will provide costume designs and, with the support of a full-time costume shop supervisor and student employees, prepare costumes for departmental productions. Required faculty service will include academic advising and mentoring of costume design majors, recruitment, committee work, and service to the university. Continuous external creative and research activities are required for promotion and tenure.
