Leave, & Benefits Specialist is a crucial member of the Human Resources Team, responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of employee time, leave, and benefits. The primary goal of this role is to ensure that employees' time and leave are appropriately applied and they receive the applicable benefits according to policy and relevant employment laws.Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Time and Leave Administration (Timely and accurately administer the agencyâ™s time and leave module for wage, work study students, and full-time employees; Provide periodic employee and supervisor training on leave and timekeeping policies and procedures; Process and audit all time worked and leave transactions for employees in accordance with federal, state and agency policies; Prepare annual leave liability reporting in compliance with state accounting requirements, etc.)Benefits Administration (Consult with and provide guidance, training and counseling to employees regarding the appropriate and effective application of benefits; Process new hire benefit enrollments as well as employee benefit changes; Serve as the primary contact in Human Resources on the interpretation and administration of benefits; Stay abreast of changes in human resources policies, procedures and systems as they relate to benefits; Administer short-term disability and FMLA benefits; Ensure compliance with Workerâ™s Compensation policies and procedures; Coordinate benefits with other state agencies for applicable new hires and exiting employees to ensure accurate transfer of benefits, etc.)Retirement Administration (Provide guidance to employees regarding retirement administration and maintenance; Work with VRS representatives as necessary to resolve employee inquiries and issues; Serve as the primary contact in Human Resources on the interpretation and administration of retirement benefits; Perform audits as necessary, etc.)Other HR Responsibilities (Assist with general Human Resource inquiries; Conduct new hire orientation with the HR Director; Works with the Payroll Specialist to ensure timely processing of new hire enrollments and benefit changes for current employees in terms of payroll processing; Assist HR Director, etc.)
