This Randalls/ Texas A&M Program is based in Houston, TX, one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US with amenities such as outdoor recreation, parks, restaurants, museums, and music. The city has a population from various ethnic and religious backgrounds and a large and growing international community. Houston is the most diverse metropolitan area in Texas and has been described as the most racially and ethnically diverse major metropolis in the U.S.
The resident is assigned a home-base community pharmacy site where approximately 40% of time is spent. This community site, located in the Houston metro area, has a dedicated team of experienced preceptors to mentor the resident through the year. The community practice site is also located near the division office where leadership and management learning experiences take place.
Through our partnership with Texas A&M University, our advanced community-based patient care learning experiences are supplemented with ambulatory care-based patient care sites affiliated with the college in the Houston Metro area. In addition, the resident participates in a teaching certificate program, and performs research with the college.
This residency program affords unique opportunities such as providing diabetes education and management through the partnership between the City of Austin and Randalls pharmacies. The resident will also oversee patients through an established medication administration program which is serves as a model for programs being initiated throughout the company. The resident also will have the opportunity to work with pharmacy leaders at the city, state, and national levels.
Pharm.D. degree and licensure in state of residency required. Official academic transcript, CV, letter of intent, and three letters of recommendation submitted to PhORCAS.
