Amherst College invites applications for the Orchestral Percussion Instructor position. The Orchestral Percussion Instructor is a part-time, casual position, without benefits. Given Amherst's distinction as one of the most diverse liberal arts colleges in the country, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ways in which they bring value to and will work towards supporting a broadly diverse community.
The Music Department at Amherst College is seeking an orchestral percussion instructor to teach individual lessons on an hourly basis. Lessons are to be given in person and on campus. Candidates should be prepared to support students from a variety of backgrounds and experiences and at a variety of levels from beginning to advanced.
The Music Department is committed to placing music at the center of the liberal arts experience as an integration of musical practice with scholarship. Our curriculum is built around five core ways of knowing music: through performance, creation, analysis, ethnography, and history. We provide pathways for students of any level of experience to begin a musical practice for the first time or to pursue high-level work.
Qualifications:
Applicants should have a robust record of professional experience (Master's degree or equivalent); demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to do so.
