The Assistant Director of Admission for the College of Performing Arts reports to the Director of Admission for COPA. The incumbent is a dynamic and enthusiastic professional who will work independently and in a team environment to recruit highly qualified students into the performing arts programs at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Assistant Director will be a music specialist while also representing the myriad educational offerings at The New School to students and families, faculty and influencer networks 

This position requires extensive travel throughout the United States, and some international travel as planned. The incumbent must be flexible to work weekends and evenings during high travel and other high volume admission times.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist in the planning and execution of all on-campus recruitment and audition events for the College of Performing Arts, and lead the development of new engagement opportunities for prospective SJCM and MMPC students

• Manage hiring and scheduling of student accompanists during on-campus audition events

• Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the departmentâ™s communication plan to prospective and admitted students

• Interview students, conduct group information sessions, and travel throughout the United States to represent The New School at high schools, community colleges, college fairs, public and service organizations, and performing arts festivals

• Speak publicly to individuals and groups during events and meetings on- and off-campus

• Serve as direct liaison with the Dean of the School of Jazz and Contemporary Music (SJCM) and Program Head for the MM Performer-Composer (MMPC) program to foster and maintain collaboration between Enrollment and Academics at COPA

• Review admission applications and credentials to determine eligibility for admission

• Field incoming and outgoing communications (telephone calls and emails) from prospective students, parents, and college counselors interested in knowing or receiving information about the details of academic programs and community at The New School

• Maintain a strong understanding and accurate account of information about the academic programs and The New School community

• Serve as a member of the Scholarship Appeal Committee

• Facilitate the enhancement and maintenance of the admission social media plan that is designed to engage prospective students, their families, and others who desire a relationship with performing arts at The New School

• Provide basic information and routine advice, guidance and assistance to prospective and current students using established procedures and policies on available programs and eligibility requirements, including the application of policies, procedures and documentation regarding the admissions process

• Data entry and management of data as needed, such as executing reports to assess effectiveness of admission policies and procedures 

• Maintain general knowledge on financial aid processes

• Stay current on industry trends and best practices of the profession of college admission counseling

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelorâ™s Degree 

• Outstanding interpersonal skills

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Sincere interest in working with diverse populations

• Valid driverâ™s license and passport

• Facility with Google and Microsoft Office Suites

• Ability to adhere to University Covid-19 policy 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Coursework or major in music strongly preferred

• Experience with CRM or databases 

WORK MODE

• Hybrid/Remote - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the on-campus presence as needed, with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions. 

SALARY RANGE

$63,000 - $65,000
