The Theatre Program at LaGuardia Community College is seeking an adjunct lecturer to teach its new course, Stagecraft. The primary responsibilities of this position include planning, supervising, evaluating and instructing in the areas of shop safety, carpentry/scenic construction, rigging, scenic painting, costume construction, electrics for stage (lighting), and audio engineering. The successful candidate will provide evidence of a mastery of at least one, but preferably all, of the areas mentioned above. The individual should have strong knowledge and experience using hand tools, power tools, sewing machines, and theatrical lighting and audio equipment. The course will include both lecture-demonstration as well as the practical application of the skills and techniques introduced.
QUALIFICATIONS
For Adjunct Lecturer:
A minimum of a bachelor???s degree in the field of technical theatre, and the ability to teach successfully are required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience and strong technical experience.
- Advanced degree in Technical Theatre is preferred.
- Familiarity and experience working with equipment such as: table saws, lathes, sanders, drill press, power tools, and all associated workshop equipment, sewing machines, theatrical lighting instruments, sound mixers, microphones, speakers
- Excellent communication skills.
- First Aid and advanced safety training preferred.
COMPENSATION
$91.67/hour
