The Peabody Preparatory seeks a piano teacher to assist the Piano Department chair with logistical tasks related to the departmental programs. The ideal candidate possesses excellent teaching, organization, and interpersonal skills with children and adults.
DUTIES
- Communicate with Piano Department faculty regarding event dates.
- Answer new student inquiries via departmental email.
- Assist department chair to create professional development opportunities for faculty.
- Assist with new faculty searches.
- Mentor new incoming faculty.
- Teach weekly lessons and maintain studio within Piano Department.
- Collect faculty schedule openings and communicate with faculty about new student placement.
- With the department chair, organize placement interviews and track student placement progress through system.
MATERIALS
- With the department chair, help manage departmental web pages (main, Piano Enrichment, Piano Academy).
EVENTS
- With the department chair, help identify and invite guest artists to Peabody for recitals and master classes.
- Organize additional events as needed.
UPCOMING PROJECTS
- Create Piano Department handbook for new and current students and families; include curriculum for Piano Enrichment classes.
- With the department chair, re-vamp departmental web pages for Fall 2023.
Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in piano performance
- 5 or more years of experience teaching piano in a community music school setting
- Strong experience teaching in a group class setting
- Candidate should have strong administrative experience and be committed to mentoring new faculty and teaching students of all ages with a broad range of abilities and backgrounds in group class settings
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills
- Possess a high comfort level with technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and web page management
