Interlochen Center for the Arts seeks a full-time Music Library Assistant to join the team of the Fennell Music Library.  The Fennell Music Library serves the music program of two world-renowned programs, Interlochen Arts Camp and Interlochen Arts Academy, and includes extensive collections in band, orchestral, choral, chamber music, jazz, scores, and recordings.

This position will work closely with the Head of the Fennell Music Library and other library staff members in order to provide these services to the ICA community.  The ideal candidate will possess a strong musical background and previous experience working in a music library (experience working in an ensemble library is a plus). Evening and occasional weekend hours will be required.

The Library staff:

• Builds meaningful relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
• Assists patrons in finding information.
• Provides a collection that reflects and anticipates patrons’ needs.
• Creates a welcoming atmosphere.

Essential  Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide a high level of reference to students, faculty, and staff
• Circulate scores, sound recordings, and other Music Library items
• Assist patrons with technology issues
• Process library materials
• Assist in the preparation of ensemble materials (copying and taping parts, binding scores, marking bowings, numbering measures, editing parts, transcribing parts, etc.)
• Assist with the preparation of materials for the summer arts camp
• Plan Music Library events and outreach activities
• Teach Music Library information sessions as needed
• Update and create music LibGuides to highlight items in the collection
• Assist with cataloging as needed
• Work with library staff on special projects dealing with outreach, programming, and other library initiatives
• Assist in the supervision of community service students and summer interns
• Participate in school-wide committee work as appropriate
• Perform other duties as assigned
