The school is situated in the popular Carolina Forest region of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, one of the fastest growth regions in the nation. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment in which its students are educated both in character and in conscience, to be steadfast in their faith, dedicated to social responsibility, and committed to developing all their God-given talents. Its academic work is rigorous and college preparatory and follows the guidelines established by the Diocese of Charleston and the South Carolina Department of Education. Its religious emphasis is on its students’ Christian faith development, so that they may live Christ’s command to love one another and become responsible members of both church and society. While just completing its seventh year in operation, the school boasts 15 sport teams and has received state recognition in many of them. Academic offerings are flourishing with more than 65 courses at every ability level, including Advanced Placement, Dual Enrollment, and Honors. The curriculum is supplemented with remote learning opportunities, college-level courses, online programs, and STREAM preparation for its teachers. After raising nearly $5M through a capital campaign, the school dedicated its new facility in August of 2016 and currently serves students in grades 6-12. Supported by dedicated and philanthropic constituents and stakeholders, this initial 15,000 square foot facility fulfilled then Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone’s goal of having a Catholic high school in every region of the diocese. The school is situated on a 50-acre campus, providing ample room for expansion. Current Bishop Jacques Fabre-Jeune, CS, has furthered this commitment and is excited to kick-start plans to expand the school’s community and infrastructure with this critical executive leadership hire. In addition, he is reviewing already drawn design plans for a parish Church to be built on a large tract of land adjacent to the school community. It’s an exciting time as the school transitions to the President-Principal model. Supported by the Bishop and Superintendent, this position is being created to build executive leadership capacity at the highest level of the school community. In this increasingly popular leadership structure, the Principal reports to the President and serves as the day-to-day leader of academic operations including all aspects of the student experience – from the classroom to the playing fields, to faith formation, and extracurricular programing. The Office of the President’s primary purpose is to provide broad leadership for the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School community to achieve the fullest realization of its Catholic mission. The President, in collaboration with the Principal and respective school and diocesan leaders, is equally responsible for the successful overall operation of the school through effective delegation of responsibilities to the administrative team, faculty, and staff. The President champions the school’s Catholic identity and is its Chief Community and Culture Builder. The President is is appointed by the Bishop and reports directly to the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, and partners with the school’s Advisory Council. The President also serves as the Chief Advancement and Chief Strategic Officer while leading constituents and stakeholders in implementing the Diocese’s vision for the school. In doing so, the President serves as the public face of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School community and is directly responsible for its external affairs, for ensuring sufficient resources, sound fiscal management, and its financial stability through direct oversight of the business operations.
