Location: Southeast Department: IU Southeast School of Arts and Letters Position Announcement: The School of Arts & Letters at Indiana University Southeast seeks candidates for a lecturer of journalism & media position in our Journalism, Media & Strategic Communication program, to begin on August 1, 2023. The teaching responsibilities for the position would be four courses per semester, serving undergraduate multimedia journalism in the Journalism & Media program. These courses may include the following: Introduction to Mass Communication; Reporting, Writing and Editing I; Social Media Strategies; Online Journalism; and Multimedia Storytelling, among others as necessitated by enrollment and program demands. Evening teaching may be required; campus service activities are required. This position also requires organizational and leadership skills to help with recruiting efforts through the program's annual High School Media Day, which brings high school students to campus for a morning of speakers, workshops, and awards.

Our Journalism, Media & Strategic Communication program includes bachelor's degrees and minors in Multimedia Journalism, Strategic Communication, and Public Relations. Our students regularly engage in experiential learning opportunities through student media and organizations, including a nationally award-winning multi-platform student news organization and Internet radio station. Basic Qualifications: Required qualifications: A master's degree in journalism, media, mass communication, or closely related field. Professional experience as a journalist, public relations professional and/or a similar professional media communications role.
Preferred qualifications: A terminal degree in journalism, media, mass communication, or closely related field. Post-secondary teaching experience. Experience and/or interest in teaching online and using experiential and high-impact teaching methods. Experience with professional media in the Southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky, area encouraged.
