Job Description: The head projectionist works closely with the Director and Associate Director of the Athena Cinema to provide technical expertise and professional presentation of all programming at the theater. Manage logistics of screenings and events, monitoring student technical staff and maintaining equipment are primary responsibilities of this position. Job duties include: 1. Overseeing Logistics of all screenings, theatrical runs and special events, and communicating effectively all technical needs with the Director, Associate Director, and student staff. Public presentation of special events and theatrical events includes, introduction of guests, audience service and attention and management of the theater environment. 30% of time 2. Training and supervision of student projectionist including delegation of specialized tasks such as creation of pre-show playlists, ingestion of DCP files, downloading and conversion of trailers. Maintaining all equipment to ensure the safety, function and reliability of the projection booths, which includes daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance of film and digital projectors. 30% of time 3. Responsible for coordinating print traffic, purchasing booth supplies, and keeping current on all industry standards, training, and best practices for projection, accessibility services and preshow practices. 30% of time 4. Collaborate with Director and Associate Director on marketing of the Athena in relation to the preshow. This includes membership campaigns, sponsor underwriting and donor relations. 10% of time Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors and at least one (1) year of related work experience. Equivalent education and related experience will be considered. Excellent computer and office skills. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with film projection, event management and production experience preferred.
