Description: Ashley Hall’s Private Lesson Program serves students within Ashley Hall, a private school in Charleston, SC, as well as students from the greater Charleston community. As a historically all-girls’ school, our mission is to produce educated women who are independent, ethically responsible, and prepared to meet the challenges of society with confidence. Our private lesson program accepts students (boys and girls) ages 4-18. Position Summary: The role of the part-time cello faculty member is to teach private cello lessons and group cello lessons after school for students grades K-12. Working with the private lesson program director, the part-time cello faculty member is responsible for coordinating with other cello faculty members to monitor student achievement. Duties: - Communicate with parents to set weekly private lesson times
- Prepare students for solo recital and ensemble performances
- Attend weekly string faculty meetings
- Teach cello masterclasses
- Attend cello recitals and ensemble performances
Qualifications: - A master’s degree in music performance, music education, cello pedagogy; or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in private teaching
- Suzuki teacher training through Cello Unit 4 and familiarity with Essential Elements or other method books
- Experience teaching all ages and abilities
- Demonstrated evidence of teacher effectiveness
