The District
The Lompoc Unified School District offers an outstanding educational program for its approximately 9,000 students. Quality leadership, teaching and support staff are just some of the reasons. The District serves TK-12th grade students living in the City of Lompoc, Vandenberg Village, Mesa Oaks, Mission Hills, Vandenberg Air Force Base and rural areas adjacent to these communities. The District offers a wide range of programs for students with special needs. There are opportunity classes at the middle and high school levels. Specialists at all levels provide support for bilingual students, migrant students, gifted, and special needs students. The Administration has worked diligently to create an atmosphere of cooperation and collaboration at all levels. Collaborative negotiations and proactive problem solving have become institutionalized.
The Community
Lompoc is located 150 miles northwest of Los Angeles in Santa Barbara County. Its population is approximately 40,000 and the area is known for its mild, smog-free climate.
