The Drama Teacher will teach two French theater classes to students ages 8 to 10 (or younger) during the after school program. The Drama Teacher position is a member of the Primary team reporting directly to the Director of Afterschool Activities.

 

At the Lycée, the student is at the center of the system. All staff are expected to provide encouragement, offer positive reinforcement, and show respect for each student. All employees should truly and enthusiastically believe in the Lycée’s Mission supporting the vision of the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.

The Drama Teacher should be skilled in leading theater games. Team-building exercises and improvisations are required. The position also requires directing skills to produce two short plays in French during each semester.The first two plays will be performed at the annual LFNY festival "Première Scène", usually at the end of January and based on a theme given by the festival organizers. These plays must be between three and seven minutes. The second set of plays will be presented in June, and are usually about ten minutes long. The ideal candidate should convey a deep love for theater to students, and help them develop their own creativity as well as a sense of collective achievement. Writing skills are a plus, although not a requirement.

Compensation: $150/hr
