Department: Jefferson Public Radio Salary/Rate: $50,000 - $60,000@ 1.0 FTE FTE: 1.0 Position Summary: Jefferson Public Radio (JPR) is a network of 23 AM and FM public radio stations and 36 translators serving a 60,000 square-mile area of Southern Oregon and Northern California. JPR is owned and operated by Southern Oregon University (SOU), whose main campus is located in Ashland, Oregon. JPR operates from a newly built broadcast center on the SOU Ashland campus and also operates a satellite studio facility in the Cascade Theatre in Redding, California. JPR provides three fully separate, full-time program services and is an NPR member station. This position is responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering in maintaining, operating and developing the technical systems that enable JPR to fulfill its public service mission. Minimum Classification Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience installing, maintaining and/or repairing broadcast and IT communications equipment and systems.Preferred Qualifications: Associate's degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical field or documented equivalent technical training. 3-5 years of experience installing, maintaining or repairing broadcast communications and IT equipment and systems.All Listed Duties: Travel to communication sites within JPR service area to maintain and repair equipment and facility infrastructure. Duties include: diagnosing and repairing equipment, ensuring all equipment is operating according to FCC rules and regulations and basic communication shelter/building repairs. , Troubleshoot and repair equipment at system and component level. , Install, maintain and repair communications equipment operating in JPR studio facilities. , Assist in planning department work, order materials and serve on-call during some evenings and weekends. Special Instructions to Applicants: Must be willing to travel and attend training programs off-site for occasional professional development. Must be able to work additional hours and adjust working hours to meet special jobs. May be called back periodically to perform work as needed on an emergency basis.
