Position Summary: Interlochen Center for the Arts seeks applicants for the position of Instructor of Horn and Director of Brass Studies. The successful candidate will provide individual instruction to Arts Academy (IAA) and Arts Camp (IAC) horn students, coach sectionals for the IAA orchestra and wind symphony, participate in side-by-side rehearsals with the large ensembles, and actively recruit prospective students to the Academy and Camp. Leadership duties include directing the brass area for IAA and IAC and working collaboratively with the Director of Music, Associate Director of Music for Classical Studies, and Assistant Director of Music for Camp and Operations. Education: The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree in music, master’s preferred. Experience: Required qualifications include evidence of excellence as a professional hornist with demonstrated experience in a broad range of performance styles and a minimum of two years of significant teaching experience at the college level and/or with high school students. Additionally, the successful candidate should have interest and experience in leadership and a broad knowledge and network of brass colleagues to consider for engagement as visiting artists. Equipment Familiarity: Comfortability with student learning management systems (Canvas) or willingness to learn about these systems. Certifications, Licenses or Special Training:

Physical Demands: Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 35lbs); to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation, and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
