OverviewThe English faculty of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) is actively seeking applications for an anticipated full-time English teaching position for the fall 2023. The core English curriculum includes materials developed by faculty members and integrates concepts from composition, rhetoric, research, literary analysis, performance, and multi-modal literacies. Electives are offered in topics and fields such as gender studies, film studies, poetry, graphic novels, theater, and speculative fiction, among others. The selected candidate will be responsible for curriculum delivery as well as ongoing development and revision of departmental courses. The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy® (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced, residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry (www.imsa.edu). WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work is performed in classroom and office settings with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Substantial time is spent working on a computer. This role requires the following physical activities: speaking for extended periods of time, hearing and visual acuity, standing, sitting, and walking.
