| The University of Iowa School of Music seeks a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music Theory to join our internationally recognized faculty.
The successful candidate will collaborate within the Composition-Theory Area to develop and refine courses according to current research and the School's needs, and to incorporate effective pedagogy into courses and degree requirements, in order to help students within and beyond the School thrive in a complex, interconnected, and rapidly changing world.
Responsibilities include:
- Pursuing a research program in music theory
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory
- Supervising teaching assistants
- Advising graduate theses and dissertations
- Engaging in departmental, university, and professional service
- Where applicable, contributing to university-wide efforts to connect classroom work to multiple career settings, entrepreneurial initiatives, and broader social challenges
