Announcement: Seeking a highly organized, technically proficient Scenic Studio Supervisor with operational leadership skills to contribute to the teaching and training of undergraduate and MFA graduate students. This 12-month full-time position works in collaboration with the Prop and Paint Supervisor managing scenic studio employees and the scenic area builds for all department productions including the summer. Ideal candidate is expected to share a commitment to academic theater, the mission of the department, and a dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the scenic studio and the department. Basic Qualifications: BFA or MFA in technical direction for theatre. At least three-years' professional experience in scenic construction within an educational or professional theatre environment. Comprehensive knowledge (or a commitment to increase proficiencies) of carpentry, metalwork, CNC, theatrical rigging, fabrication, and OSHA safety standards.
Responsibilities Include: - Provide rough and finish carpentry guidance/training to students of varying levels of experience.
- Serve as a primary point person for the monitoring of quality and execution of work during production builds.
- Organization, maintenance, and upkeep of the scenic studio, theatres, tools, and storage locations.
- Maintain budget and procurement of building materials.
- Cultivate an environment of trust and an overall healthy studio environment
