The Facility Maintenance Engineer/Theatre Tech I works closely with the Production Manager and Technical Director and students enrolled in various labs, Work Study Employees, Departmental Assistants and volunteers: to perform technical work involved maintaining the department's mainstage production facilities and equipment as designated by the Production Manager and or Technical Director.
The Facility Maintenance Engineer must be able to work independently, be able to handle multiple tasks, demonstrate a continual desire to improve and gain knowledge of the field, and be able to adapt to changing work situations. The individual must also be able to work with students of differing experience levels in a positive, friendly manner.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Ability to work in confined spaces and lift approximately fifty (50) pounds; ability to work at heights on ladder or scissor lift; Ability to instruct in the safe operation of stage machinery and tools; Position requires familiarity with basic stage directions, terminology and theatrical equipment and materials and able to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Responsible for loading/unloading equipment and assembling/disassembling required materials for trade.
Experience in welding, theatrical lighting technology. Multi-media technology, sound technology, theatrical rigging, including chain motor usage and repair; First Aid and Adult CPR certification
