The Linehan Artist Scholars Program is a four-year scholarship and mentorship program for students who enter UMBC as freshmen pursuing their art in either dance, music, theatre the or visual arts.
The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) seeks an Assistant Director of Engagement to provide full-time, robust administrative support to the Linehan Artist Scholars Program. This person will enhance this scholarship community by building an accessible knowledge base to provide expertise regarding alumni, prospective student relations (recruitment) and creative academic programming.

Specific duties for this administrative position with the Linehan Artist Scholars Program will include documentation of the career experiences and trajectories of Linehan Artist Scholar Alumni and accessing tools to track and report on their careers. In addition, this person will collaborate with UMBC’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, Alumni Office and the Office of Institutional Advancement to build partnerships for increasing the visibility of the Linehan Artist Scholars Program to prospective applicants and for events such as the annual Linehan Artist Scholars Salon.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in one of the arts or performance professions, and a minimum of one year of experience in administrative staff work in the context of higher education.
Three years of experience is preferred with an educational facility or research institution (e.g. university, community college). This experience would include data analysis, organizing and managing events, fostering alumni relations, recruitment, general administration and effective management of social media, and other similar promotional skills.

The Assistant Director position is funded by a one-time generous gift from the donors that support the position for four years. After two years the Linehan Artist Scholars Director, Dean and the Office of Institutional Advancement will review the results of the position to evaluate the rationale for converting the position to permanent status after the fourth year of the funding.
