Required Qualifications

• MFA in Scene Design or Ph.D. in Theatre with significant professional experience as a scene designer (Degree must be from a regionally accredited or internationally accredited/government certified university) (A secondary area of design interest, especially in costumes or lighting design would be welcome.)
• Experience teaching at college/university level as a graduate assistant, instructor, or above
• Evidence of success as a professional theatrical scenic designer for large-scale musicals and plays
• Evidence of ability to teach scene design, scenic painting, hand and CAD drafting, and related theatre subjects including other areas of design – e.g., costume, lights
• Evidence of strong research and analysis skills, as they apply to design
• Evidence of strong drafting skills
• Evidence of strong rendering and model-building skills
• Evidence of strong scene painting skills
• Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
• Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the University community
• Demonstrated commitment to working with multi-cultural populations and awareness of issues affecting women and minorities
