The Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies in the College of Education and Social Work invites applicants for the full-time, Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology. This is a search for 2 appointments: beginning August 2023 (one potentially beginning January 2023). The Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies is dedicated to fostering the development of educators with the requisite critical consciousness and pedagogical skills to act as public intellectuals; citizen-teachers capable of creating pedagogical spaces and practices that are relevant, impactful, and liberating for their students. The faculty position involves teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses that may be offered in-person, online, on/off campus, hybrid, or hyflex in both synchronous and asynchronous formats. The ideal candidate will use innovative teaching skills and demonstrate attention to the learning and teaching needs of the department’s students. The ideal candidate’s experience, expertise, and specialized training will serve to strengthen departments on and off campus efforts. The faculty member will collaborate with other departmental faculty and staff to ensure student success. The incumbent will complete a distance education training program within the first two years of employment. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: - Teach up to four undergraduate and/or graduate level courses per semester within the area of Educational Psychology. Additional courses within area of specialization may be assigned based on departmental needs.
- Engage in scholarly activities such as research, presentations, and publications.
- Serve the University and the community through participation in various committees.
- Mentor, advise, and supervise students.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications - Ph. D or Ed. D in Educational Psychology or related discipline. (ABD may be considered with firm completion date).
- Record of academic scholarship.
- Teaching experience at K-12 and/or college level.
Preferred Qualifications - Specialization in approaches to educational psychology grounded in critical theory, critical pedagogy or transformative education; or
- Experience teaching diverse students of diverse backgrounds.
