The Division of Student Life at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville invites applications for the position of Coordinator for the Pride Center. Reporting to the Director of the Pride Center, the Coordinator oversees the department's LGBTQ+-focused educational outreach initiatives and other program coordination that impact student engagement, retention, and success for underrepresented students at the university.
The mission of the Pride Center is to provide academic and social support for the LGBTQ+ community at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UT). We strive to be a space for all members of the UT community to engage with and explore issues relating to gender and sexuality. Our mission is accomplished through our educational programming focusing on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation; our contributions to and maintenance of a campus LGBTQ+ community; and advocating for equitable access for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff on campus.
The Position: The Coordinator works on the planning, production, marketing, and assessment of departmental programs and activities, including oversight of Safe Zone at UT and other educational outreach across campus. The Coordinator develops and expands programs and services for under-represented student populations with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ students of color. This position will directly supervise the center's graduate assistant and undergraduate student workers, represents the office at Division of Student Life events, and serves on various campus committees to support the current and development of new programs and resources for historically underrepresented student populations. The Coordinator engages in professional development activities and training to maintain current knowledge of cultural, social justice, and inclusion theories, techniques, and assessments.
