As an urban-based Department of Computer Science dedicated to mentoring a diverse student body, many of whom come from underrepresented and underserved populations, we especially encourage applications from candidates from underrepresented groups. This position involves teaching three to four courses per semester at the undergraduate and graduate levels with an emphasis on introductory/core courses and advanced interdisciplinary courses related to the candidate's areas of expertise. Minimum Qualifications: Requirements include a terminal degree (such as a PhD or MFA/DMA) in the candidate's primary discipline of training, along with a robust background in computer science and pertinent interdisciplinary topics. Candidates must clearly demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching and have a record of distinguished teaching and student mentorship at the undergraduate and graduate levels (at least five years of teaching experience preferred), and the ability to create new courses and curricula in computer science and its intersection with other disciplines. We encourage candidates in all disciplines to apply but especially encourage those with a strong background and interest in teaching introductory programming/core classes for majors and nonmajors, along with interdisciplinary classes that combine computer science, cultural theory, and the fine and performing arts, such as art history, dance, drama, music, or studio arts.
