Position Summary Biola University’s School of Fine Arts and Communication invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Theatre/Artistic Director, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2023.
TEACHING AREAS: The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching in the following courses: Voice and Speech for the Actor; Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced Acting; Movement for the Actor; Periods and Styles of Performance; and Production Lab I-IV.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES: Additional duties would include but not be limited to: mentorship of the Alpha Psi Omega theatre honor society, producer responsibilities and oversight of student and guest director productions, coordination of student workers and rehearsal schedules, and collaboration with the Technical Director and Conservatory staff in filling needs related to the season, courses, advising, and recruitment. Planning for the following season in coordination with the Theatre Advisory Board will also be needed.
Chair the Theatre Advisory Board which collaborates on season selection.
Help develop and oversee the budget of all productions (income and expenses).
Oversee the marketing plan and process.
Attend production meetings.
Immediate the line of communication to the box office.
Attend rehearsals if/as requested.
Approve final selection of Stage Managers, guest designers, quest directors, guest technicians
Approve all student work hours for payroll purposes.
Approve all theatre staff hours for payroll purposes
Coordinate all student workers with the Technical Director.
Coordinate all scholarship selections with other Theatre/Music Faculty.
Coordinate guest directors, choreographers, etc. with Production Team
