MUSIC LIBRARY ASSISTANT, MIT Libraries-Lewis Music Library, to provide organizational and administrative support for the Lewis Music Library. Responsibilities include managing all print and electronic course reserves; coordinating deliveries and shipping of materials; working closely with and meeting the course reserve needs of faculty; working on projects that will improve e-reserves services and access; using Alma for collection and resource management; coordinating with Libraries' Human Resources on the hiring of student assistants; scheduling, training, and supervising student assistants and approving timesheets; providing occasional support for the circulation desk; promoting music library activities and services via e-mails, posters, videos, photos, displays, and social media; answering general reference questions; assisting faculty and staff from the Music and Theater Arts section with access to library resources and collection materials; providing outreach, planning, and day-of support for lectures/concerts/workshops/events; and providing a variety of financial and administrative support. Job Requirements REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; two years' relevant experience; strong subject knowledge in music; keen attention to detail; and strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; exercise independent judgment and discretion; collaborate effectively with a diverse group of people; and bring tasks/projects to full completion with due regard for time constraints. PREFERRED: associate's/bachelor's degree; experience in a customer service environment; experience with Alama/Primo; familiarity with social media applications (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram); general technical skills with audio equipment and music technologies; work experience in an academic environment/research library; familiarity with MIT and its administrative departments/systems; initiative; and ability to work with minimal supervision.
