Provides digital outreach coordination for the promotion of MSU education abroad programs and initiatives. Produces timely, relevant, and compelling digital content to support the strategic goals of the Office for Education Abroad (EA). The content will be MSU brand-aligned and developed through coordination with the EA Marketing and Communication Manager. The Digital Outreach (DO) Manager is responsible for creating video, managing web content, shaping digital assets for a variety of online and social channels, and reporting on content marketing efforts using web and social analytics tools. The DO Manager will strategize with other EA team members to create and distribute content to help in the success of EA goals. DO Manager will work closely with the Marketing and Communication Manager on development of outreach plans, website management, and social media content, and will serve on related work teams. Additional project management as assigned. Occasional evening and weekend hours necessary.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (85%):
Video production (25%)
Produces and provides promotional, educational, and event-based videos and manages the process for quality and efficiency.
Conceives, produces, and edits promotional, instructional, and event-based video projects, interviews, stories, and special projects. Maintains consistent brand messaging across all web and video projects.
Executes shoots on site/on location including audio, camera operation and talent directions. Additionally handles assignments requiring special audio needs, custom graphics, and animation.
Plans and performs all post-production tasks, including audio and music, closed captioning, and final editing.
Uploads videos to the web and YouTube channel.
Social media content (20%)
Writes and designs compelling social media content to inform prospective, current, and past education abroad participants
Strategizes on best use/delivery of content on each of EA’s social platforms.
Web content production/coordination (10%)
Produces and publishes marketing content on EA website
Maintains and updates website pages.
Strategizes with Marketing and Communications Manager about user experience enhancements.
Ensures website meet accessibility standards and content is maximized for SEO.
Email communications (10%)
Produces electronic newsletter(s)
Creates special email publications to engage prospective and current education abroad participants
Research email best practices and incorporate into EA emails.
Analysis and reporting (10%)
Creates regular reports on success of digital marketing efforts
Manages analytics tools
Makes recommendations based on content analysis.
Outreach support (10%)
Attend and present at recruiting campus events, such as those sponsored by the MSU Office of Admissions
Participate in EA-related sponsored events, such as the Education Abroad Expo
Liaise with units across campus, such as MSU’s Residential Neighborhoods
Secondary functions (15%)
Supervise graphic design and/or video student employees
Serve as advisor to the Spartans Abroad Global Ambassadors (SAGA) student organization
Contribute to the profession of education abroad, which may include attending and/or assisting with regional, national, and international conferences each year as necessary/appropriate/fiscally feasible
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in a related field such as communications, public relations, or digital content design; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in composing, editing, and producing digital marketing campaigns; experience with word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation software; spreadsheet and/or database software; or content management systems; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite software; experience managing content for social media channels; experience with implementing accessibility standards for people with disabilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Master’s degree in communication, marketing, advertising, or public relations; knowledge of web analytics tools; experience developing digital assets for a wide variety of platforms; ability to work well independently and effectively as a team member; excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and drive to continue to learn; outstanding customer service skills; an eye for creating graphically pleasing content; attention to detail but able to see the big picture; experience in communications coordination or management at a four-year college or university or at a study abroad organization; experience studying, living, or working abroad.
