Responsibilities: -
Partner with the arts department in the production of the upper school musical and performances for various grade levels -
Design and implement a music curriculum that integrates best practices in diversity, inclusivity, and differentiation. -
Create a joyful, stimulating, and innovative environment for learning -
Assess student progress and adjust teaching plans accordingly; provide students with regular and timely feedback about their progress. -
Integrate suitable use of technology as appropriate -
Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary and project-based learning curricular experiences. -
Actively pursue professional development in the teaching of performing arts and/or teaching in interdisciplinary project-based approaches -
Maintain strong communication with colleagues, families, and administration. -
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications: -
Bachelor’s Degree and course work in related field; Master’s Degree preferred -
A versatile musician with a minimum 2-5 years of teaching experience -
Experience with choral conducting on the lower and/or middle school level. -
Some experience with instrumental conducting. -
Creative, energetic, and positive approach to teaching -
Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive classroom community and to working actively to introduce students to diverse cultures, experiences, and perspectives -
Experience with student-centered teaching, project-based learning, interdisciplinary curriculum planning, and authentic measures of student learning -
Experience integrating technology, including Google applications,GarageBand, laptop/iPads, SMART Board, etc., into teaching practice to support learning and deepen projects -
