The Production Manager, reporting to the Director of Production, works as a member of the production team to manage all aspects of day-to-day concert production in order to ensure successful performances and to maintain a positive relationship with San Diego Symphony Orchestra members and visiting high profile artists at Jacobs Music Hall, The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, and a variety of other locations and venues in southern California. The person in this position must have extensive experience working with an orchestra but be able to pivot out of classical programming and into popular programming with the orchestra as well performances without the orchestra. This is a full-time, year-round position with a schedule very heavy in events during the summer and fall seasons at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego’s newest premier destination for live music.

This is a full-time position with benefits, based at the San Diego Symphony. Evening and weekend work is required.
Education, Experience and Abilities:
Proven knowledge of the music and entertainment industry
A minimum 6 years of relevant experience, at least 3 in orchestra and 3 in popular programming (can be simultaneous experience)
In-depth knowledge of Vectorworks for preparing stage plots
Ability to read music is preferred
Touring experience preferred
Experience working with AEG, Live Nation, and other promoters
Proven leadership and project management
General knowledge of artists and repertoire
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; attention to detail
Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, drafting software
Ability to:

Thrive in a fast-paced environment with high volume of work
Work effectively in a highly collaborative and communicative team environment
Maintain discretion and confidentiality

General Requirements:
Regular, predictable attendance required for numerous evening and weekend work shifts
Available to work regular business hours in addition to evenings, weekends, overtime and some holidays as required
Able to work independently with minimal oversight
Able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Able to pick up and move a minimum of 25 lbs.
